Resistant Weight Loss Lab Testing Package

What if by making a few small changes, you could jumpstart your weight loss today?

Weight loss resistance is sometimes referred to as a weight loss plateau. This happens when an individual develops some sort of metabolic imbalance which makes losing weight seem impossible! No amount of hours you spend in the gym or how healthy you eat will make the scale move until the causes of the metabolic imbalances are addressed.

This may not be your fault! Below are some of the most common causes of resistant weight loss:

  1. Chronic Inflammation
  2. Nutritional Deficiencies
  3. Insulin Resistance
  4. Environmental Toxins
  5. Poor Gut Health
  6. Thyroid Health
  7. Adrenal Dysfunction

Chronic Inflammation

Extreme dieting (excessive low-calorie intake, over-exercising, little sleep, too much caffeine, etc.) and stress can lead to body-wide inflammation. The stress of the extreme lifestyle can cause C-reactive protein (check your labs or check RWL labs at the end of class), an inflammatory marker, to spike. This causes a metabolic imbalance leading to difficulty losing weight. If Hs-CRP is high inflammation needs to be addressed as a whole looking at environmental and food allergens, stress, and environmental toxins/infections.

Nutritional Deficiencies

We all know a nutritious diet is critical for normal function in the human body, but did you know that being deficient in certain nutrients can also stall your weight loss? Lack of vitamins, vitamin D3, magnesium, calcium, iron, chromium, and coenzyme Q10 can absolutely stall the fat-burning process as they are used in metabolism and detoxification.

Insulin Resistance

This is where insulin is present but does not work as it should. This causes the body to store glucose (blood sugar) as fat.

Dr. Eleanna De Filippis, an endocrinologist from Mayo Clinic explains insulin resistance: "When you eat food, your body converts that food into dietary sugars. Insulin is a hormone released by the pancreas that tells your cells to open up to that sugar and convert it into energy. With insulin resistance, the cells don't react and don't open up, resulting in excessive sugar in the blood. Over time, the pancreas keeps trying to regulate the blood sugar, producing more and more insulin until it wears out and can't produce large amounts of insulin anymore. As a result, blood sugar levels increase to the point of being in the diabetic range." This continual exhaustion and desensitization of insulin to constant blood sugar spikes leads to excess body fat being stored as well as making your insulin response weak and slow, which makes losing weight very difficult.

Environmental Toxins

The choices we make in our everyday lives are leading to over-exposure to harmful chemicals (found in electronics, clothing, cookware, cleaning products, detergents, hair care products, food packaging, pesticides, and much more) which can easily build up in our bloodstreams and disrupt the normal functioning of our bodies making it difficult to lose weight.

Poor Gut Health

A healthy gut is probably one of the most important factors in our everyday lives because it is connected to literally everything. When our gut health is poor it can lower immunity, increase weight, cause hormonal imbalances, affect mental health, and cause endocrine and metabolic disorders.

Thyroid Health

When we have an underactive thyroid (also known as hypothyroidism) there are not enough T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine) hormones being produced. This is a problem because these hormones are a key factor in our metabolism, so when they are low, so is our metabolism, which makes weight loss very difficult.

Adrenal Dysfunction

When cortisol increases chronically, not only does it cause inflammation, it increases your blood glucose. This increase in blood glucose and inflammation can make it impossible to lose weight.

Curious about what is at the root cause of your resistant weight loss?

This panel will help test for the most common causes of resistant weight loss (hormone imbalances, thyroid issues, stress, chronic inflammation) and include the following labs: E2, Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEA, 4 point cortisol, FT4, FT3, TSH, TPO antibody, Fasting insulin, hsCRP, HbA1c, Triglycerides, LDL, HDL, D2, and D3.

Once we receive your results, we will meet with you to discuss them and create a personalized plan to get you moving on your path to achieving your health goals!
